My First Time Fishing

"GONE FISHING" is the name of the new monthly series of experimental music curated David Sait & Michael Keith. The 2nd Monday of every month they will be presenting an eclectic mix of sights and sounds for folks (and hopefully some newcomers) to enjoy!

Format = Three 20-30 minute sets of diverse and ambitious programming packed into one night with MixTape bliss providing the glue.

The first night (Monday February 13th, 2012) will feature noise artist Michael Murphy. This will be his first time at Somewhere There. Michael will bring a collection of homemade instruments paired with a ridiculous amount of sonic modulation. Hand-built oscillators and contact mic-metal objects just waiting to be enlivened!

Then up is Michael Keith on baritone ukulele. The music will be deeply informed by his love of instruments like dotar, tanbour and setar as well as many traditional (and non) musics.

Up last is David Sait. David has recently released a new cd investigating the lo-fi sounds of self created/pre-recorded drums on 4-Track cassette mixed with the beautiful and haunting tone of his Chinese guzheng. His music stands by itself
and is always deeply inspired.

The show will start at 8pm sharp.
Admission is only $10 or PWYC
